Sun Lakes Chorale—Summer Break

Yvonne Orlich

As of March 20, following our annual Spring Concert, the Sun Lakes Chorale is officially off for the summer. Many of our members are snowbirds, and they head out to other states or up north to escape the expected summer heat.

We will resume in September on the first Monday after Labor Day. This is when we start gearing up and practicing for our Holiday Concert. It sometimes feels odd to be singing holiday and Christmas songs as early as September, but the time passes quickly and before we know it, we are ready for the holiday season. Where does the time go?

If you live in Sun Lakes and you are a singer, please think about joining our group. You don’t have to be “old” to join, just a Sun Lakes resident. Are you interested? Come sit in for a rehearsal to see if this is something that you might like to do.

• Oct 31 is the final day we accept singers. There is a minimal fee to join, and it covers the end of the 2025 season through the end of the spring season.

• We meet on Mondays at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church Choir Room.

• If you decide to join, there is a nominal fee for the entire two seasons—holiday and spring.

• Women must pay a “concert attire” fee. Men are required to wear tuxes.

• There is no audition; however, you will be tested simply for voice section placement.

• Our concert dates will be Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025, and March 26, 2026.

We love singing, and we have a good time. Besides rehearsals, we have an annual dinner, and last year we had a fun get-together on the patio of Palo Verde after our last rehearsal before our Holiday Concert. You are also afforded the opportunity not only to do something you like, but you will likely make some good friends in the process. For information, you can go to our website Sunlakeschorale.com or contact any member of the chorale. There is always a member near you, guaranteed!

Have a great summer. Stay safe and cool, and we’ll be back in September!

A day without music is like … Just kidding. I have no idea.
