Sun Lakes Community Choir Presents ‘Requiem’

Yvonne Orlich

Sun Lakes United Methodist Church has recently received a generous, anonymous monetary gift. This grant is designated for a special musical production; therefore, the Sun Lakes Community Choir will utilize these funds to enhance a choral and orchestral performance of Gabriel Faure’s Requiem. The choir will again be under the talented direction of Cris Temple-Evans.

The Sun Lakes Community Choir is made up of volunteer singers from various church choirs in the Sun Lakes area, members of the Sun Lakes Chorale, and some talented singers from outside Sun Lakes. Rehearsals began in January and will be held weekly at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church through the week prior to the concert.

The concert, which will also include a selection of one or two other numbers prior to the presentation of Requiem, will be held on Sunday, April 2, at 4 p.m. at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. There will be no admission fee, but your “free-will donation” will be gratefully accepted.

If you missed the first Requiem concert last year, this is your opportunity to come and enjoy the beauty of this renowned piece of music with the chorus and a substantial orchestra. This will be a great way to round out your Palm Sunday. Please join us.
