Message from the General Manager
Kelly Haynes, GM
What makes a good neighbor? To some, being neighborly might mean a friendly hello or a wave when visiting the mailbox. Others may value being able to count on a neighbor to check on their home while away, or even enjoying an evening with a cool beverage on a neighbor’s patio.
Here are some tips on being a good neighbor. 1) Introducing yourself early on. You could give tips to a neighbor new to the area on where the grocery store or movie theatre is. 2) Be aware of shared walls, and realize that a fast growing tree too close to a block wall may someday have roots that extend to your neighbor’s yard which may damage their landscaping. 3) Having a noisy pet can cause contention between you and your neighbor – keep your pet inside while you are away. 4) Practice parking etiquette. Never block anyone’s access, and avoid slamming doors late at night. Have visitors park in front of your house, not theirs! 5) Keep your yard (front and back) tidy. 6) Put your garbage out on the day of collection, not before. Put your cans away promptly. 7) Communicate. Keep them in the loop, especially if you are planning something that may affect them.
Even if those around you don’t understand the value of being a good neighbor, be a good neighbor anyway. Remember the golden rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”
