Sun Lakes Country Club

General Manager report

Kelly Haynes, GM

I was very proud recently as I watched a group of Sun Lakes employees and volunteers work together to dress and decorate for a wedding reception in the Arizona Room. As I worked diligently side-by-side with management staff, administrative staff, restaurant staff and a Board member, it hit me that these people from different departments came together not only for the benefit of the company, but for the benefit of the Events Coordinator, who had to leave town abruptly on family business. These staff members expanded their team spirit across service lines. It made me think a little more deeply about teamwork. We use the word team and teamwork all the time, and many of us want to be seen as part of a team, but how often do you really see it in action?

It is my hope that these (and all) employees believe that they are part of a team that works and one that is successful. That we can also experience teamwork with the members; that we would all do whatever we needed to do for the success of the company and the enjoyment of the membership. I believe that in order to create the best environment for a happy customer (the member), employees need to feel that their efforts are appreciated, not only by the members but by management. We must value their opinions and input, and must make sure they have the right tools they need to do their job. I believe even if we are not already there – we are on the right path to reach these things fully.

The members here are fortunate to have such a team serving them, just as the staff are fortunate to have such a wonderful, safe and appreciative environment in which to serve. Thanks for being part of our team.
