Voters still deciding whom to support in the Democratic primary for Arizona’s Fifth Congressional District (CD) will have a unique opportunity to hear directly from the candidates at the Sun Lakes Democratic Club (SLDC) meeting on Monday, June 8 at 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N.

All three Democratic candidates seeking the CD five nomination will be in attendance to present their positions and engage with voters ahead of the July 21 primary election.

Candidate lineup includes:

* Chris James, who has served in federal government roles with the Department of the Treasury and the U.S. Small Business Administration, working under the Obama, Trump, and Biden administrations.

* Brian Hualde, a fourth-generation Arizonan, Army veteran, and medic who now works as a healthcare provider in the East Valley.

* Elizabeth Lee, a CD five resident, is a nationally recognized nurse expert focused on expanding access to effective, patient-centered healthcare.

In addition to the congressional candidates, attendees will hear from state-level candidates, including Dr. Racquel “Rockee” Armstrong and Jacob Weinberg, both running for the Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 13, and Kristie O’Brien, a candidate for the Arizona State Senate. Additional candidates for local and statewide offices are also expected to attend.

The Sun Lakes Democratic Club represents more than 2,500 registered Democrats in the Sun Lakes community and advocates for policies that promote a thriving, inclusive Arizona.

Residents are also invited to the club’s First Friday Coffee, held at 10 a.m. on the first Friday of each month at Denny’s, 4977 S. Arizona Ave. in Chandler. The informal gathering provides an opportunity for club members to connect and discuss current issues in a relaxed setting.

As part of its community outreach, the club supports Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Attendees are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations to the meeting. Contributions may also be made online, and donors can request receipts for the Arizona dollar-for-dollar charitable tax credit.
