On Nov. 12, the Sun Lakes Duplicate Bridge Club honored its member Janet Daling, Ph.D, with a commemorative plaque for extraordinary lifetime bridge achievement. American Contract Bridge League (ACBL) members accumulate Masters Points by achieving success in competition at sanctioned clubs and tournaments held at local, regional, and national levels. During 2019, Dr. Daling surpassed 25,000 career Masters Points. To put this in perspective, Dr. Daling now ranks 72nd out of 164,000 active ACBL members in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Dr. Daling now resides in IronOaks, having relocated here from the Seattle area in 2010 after retiring from a distinguished career as an epidemiologist and cancer researcher, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and professor of epidemiology at the University of Washington. She chose Sun Lakes in particular because of the vibrant duplicate bridge club operating here, with games at Risen Savior Lutheran Church on South Alma School Road. The club offers games and lessons for players of all abilities, beginner to expert.
