Sun Lakes Garden Club Holiday Party in the Barn

Santa brought gifts for everyone. Garden Club President Starla Kramer is seen accepting an ornament of a farm truck, with a Christmas tree in the back, from Santa. There were also 41 additional prizes given to members.

On Tuesday morning, Jan. 18, the members are looking forward to meeting Carol Stuttard. Carol is a Master Gardener who has been featured on BBC TV and in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine. Carol will share her information about preparing and growing spring crops. Her favorite crop is tomatoes!

In December the club celebrated with a Holiday Party in the Barn!

This was the original Riggs Family barn, which is now the Greenhouse Gardens, on Chandler Heights Road between Cooper and Gilbert Roads (famous for their Saturday morning Farmers’ Market). The barn was strung with lights and pine boughs, and holly adorned all 10 tables. The 66 members who attended enjoyed a gourmet boxed lunch from AJ’s Fine Foods and played holiday trivia games. After the games, country guitar music and singing were provided by Jeff Toulson, accompanied by Steve Newkirk (members’ husbands who perform at Open Mic Night at Grill on the Green at Ironwood Country Club).

Santa arrived at the barn in a decorated golf cart driven by Cameron, who owns the farm with his wife Jeannine. Santa brought gifts for everyone.
