The next meeting of the Sun Lakes Garden Club (SLGC) will be held at the Chapel Center, 9240 N. Sun Lakes Blvd. across from the Sun Lakes Country Club on Monday, September 1 at 9:30 a.m. Because this is Labor Day and attendance may be low, those who are present will have a round table discussion of successes and failures they have had in their gardens.

The August 4 program was “Flowers by Renee” presented by Barbara Renee Oliver, owner of Flowers by Renee located on Queen Creek and Alma School. She built a beautiful monochromatic arrangement using shades of yellow and green. With the addition of each flower she told what it was, why she chose it and why she put it where she did. As she was speaking she gave tips for flower care and how to make them stay where they were originally put, and she also gave tips to make the flowers last longer. The arrangement was raffled off. The winner was Jana Matousek.

The Sun Lakes Garden Club meets on the first Monday of each month at the Sun Lakes Chapel Center. Anyone interested in how and what to grow in this area is invited to attend as a guest.
