The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation (SLJC) is continuing to follow the path of caution in relation to its services and related programs. This means that for the near future at least, SLJC will still be relying on virtual technology rather than in-person meetings for all its activities.
One of the benefits coming out of all this is that our esteemed Rabbi, Irwin Wiener, in order to make sure we all still feel connected to one another, is providing us with weekly sermons online. His words of wisdom never fail to provide nourishment for the soul. SLJC is so lucky that he belongs to us!
Upcoming online events include our monthly Friday night Shabbat service on Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. On Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 11 a.m., as part of the ongoing interfaith program, Rabbi Wiener and Rev. Vernon Meyer will discuss Coping with Adversity. Rounding out the month, SLJC plans an adult ed. program on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Adena Astrowsky, prosecutor for the City of Scottsdale. Her topic: Hate Crime and Bias Incidents: What We Can Do. While there is no charge for this program, pre-registration through Gail at [email protected] is required by Oct. 18 in order for you to receive your Zoom invitation. Lastly, on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m., Rabbi Wiener will be presenting a lecture on the Prophets. Once again, pre-registration is required by contacting [email protected], and remember, all these programs are free of charge.
SLJC is extremely proud to announce we are launching the Marty Silverman Memorial Campaign. The fund will perpetuate Marty’s service to and ideals of Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation. For additional information or if you wish to donate, please contact [email protected].
We’ll be back in touch next month. Stay safe and healthy.
