The Sun Lakes Posse – Medical Equipment Associates had a meeting on November 1 to set up the winter schedule for the Medical Equipment Program. One change has been made for the winter schedule. We will be closing on Wednesday afternoons. The remainder of the schedule will remain the same. We will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Wednesday, the office will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. We do not have the number of volunteers to keep the office open on Wednesday afternoons. We have two associates on duty each shift.

This program has been published to the residents of Sun Lakes; therefore, we are getting more of the residents using the program. Last year from January 1, 2016, to October 31, 2016, we loaned Sun Lakes residents 713 pieces of medical equipment, and in 2017, for the same period of time, we loaned Sun Lakes residents 1,283. Every year, the program is being used more by the residents of Sun Lakes.

We had three associates during the summer who gave above and beyond the hours that are requested per week by the associates. We asked that they be willing to volunteer four hours per week. Janet Rogers, Betty Sanders and Eleanor Woodman volunteered eight-plus hours some weeks. Thank you, ladies, for giving these hours for community work.

Following are the types of medical equipment we have in our loaner program: metal adjustable canes, crutches, grabbers, metal walkers (with and without wheels), walkers with seats, bedside potty chairs, bath and shower seats, companion chairs, wheelchairs, knee scooters, long shoe horns and hemi side walkers
