The Sun Lakes Republican Club will feature special guest speaker Congressman Andy Biggs at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, September 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the Arizona Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes, AZ 85248. The public is invited and encouraged to attend!
Congressman Biggs will provide a legislative review and report on his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., and he will make his appeal to voters to re-elect him in Congressional District 5 in November. “Keeping Our Constitutional Republic and the 2018 Elections” will offer Biggs’ election analysis and view of his legislative priorities for America and our local district.
Congressman Andy Biggs is an Arizona native and retired attorney. He has earned a bachelor’s degree in Asian studies, a M.A. in political science from ASU, and a J.D. from University of AZ. Andy served in the Arizona legislature for 14 years prior to holding national office. He was first elected to the AZ House of Representatives before being elected to serve in the AZ Senate in November 2010. In the Senate, he chaired the Appropriations Committee and was the Vice-Chairman of the Government Reform and Judiciary Committees. Andy also served on the Rules Committee. In 2012, Biggs was re-elected to the AZ Senate to represent Legislative District 12 and was chosen to be the Senate President.
In 2016, Andy Biggs was elected in our District 5 to his first term in the U.S. House of Representatives, replacing retiring Congressman Matt Salmon. During the past two years, he has served on the House Judiciary and Science, Space and Technology Committees and is the chairman of the Environment Subcommittee.
Congressman Biggs has been designated a Champion of the Taxpayer by Americans for Prosperity, a Friend of Liberty by the Goldwater Institute, a Guardian of Small Business by NFIB and received the Conservative Excellence Award from the American Conservative Union. He has 100% Voting Records from the Arizona Small Business Assn., Arizona Citizens Defense League and Center for Arizona Policy. He has lived in Gilbert with his family for the past 32 years, has been married for 35 years to Cindy, and they have six children and four grandchildren.
