Sun Lakes Blvd., Sun Lakes 85248. Our mission is “Promoting an Informed Electorate Through Education.” Light desserts will be provided to enhance your evening’s enjoyment.
We have a very special treat in store for our members and friends this month! You are invited to hear our keynote speakers Cindy Biggs, wife of Gubernatorial Candidate Andy Biggs, and Constitutional Law Professor Shane Krauser. Please arrive early to be assured of seating!
Happy 250th Birthday America and Declaration of Independence! Let’s Celebrate! Since we do not meet from July to -Aug., this is our first opportunity to commemorate America’s 250th Birthday! Cindy Biggs will kick off the meeting in style, dressed as one of her favorite founding fathers, and offer us a stirring presentation on the birth of our nation and the Declaration of Independence.
You will hear about many of our “forgotten founders”: Learn which founder suffered from face cancer yet rode his horse 80 miles to vote for independence. Which founder suffered from a stroke but was determined to sign the Declaration? Your heart will break to hear of founders whose family members suffered as the British burned their homes, killed their livestock, and worse, all because they signed the charter of our new country.
Cindy Biggs is married to Congressman Andy Biggs, who is running for Governor of Arizona. They have been married for 45 years and have six children, 12 grandchildren with two more on the way. Cindy co-founded Constitution in the Classroom, a program to teach elementary schoolchildren the fundamentals of our founding documents and the founders. She also teaches high school students and adults about our founding documents in a living history fashion. Cindy is chair of the Gilbert Fire District Board and plays the trumpet with the Mesa City Band.
Shane Krauser is an experienced trial attorney and adjunct professor of Constitutional Law, He has traveled internationally teaching the foundational principles of liberty He is one of our most popular speakers! In this presentation you’ll discover the powerful connection between the Declaration of Independence and our Constitution, and why understanding one requires understanding the other. This moving presentation reveals how the Declaration defines the principles of liberty while the Constitution creates the framework designed to protect them.
But freedom requires more than a Constitution. In Krauser’s entertaining style, we will explore the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and the indispensable role each generation plays in preserving liberty. You’ll leave seeing America’s founding documents, and your place within their story, in an entirely different light.
Since this is election season, you will have the opportunity to meet with candidates, as always! Please plan to buy your tickets to our “always sold-out-early” Christmas Dinner Dance!
