The Sun Lakes Rotary has a variety of interesting speakers each week! During the month of September, there is a morning meeting on the 17th and evening meetings on the 10th and 24th.

On September 17, our speaker will be Lana Berry. Lana has served as the CFO and Assistant Superintendent for Business Services of the Chandler Unified School District since 2013. Prior to that time, she spent 13 years in Page, Arizona, as District Business Manager for 11 years and two years as a high school teacher and boys’ basketball coach.

Lana is a graduate of Colorado State University and a Certified Public Accountant. She has served in many professional educational capacities in the state, including Auditor General School Finance Advisory Committee, a board member for Arizona Risk Retention Trust, and Past Arizona Association of Impact Aid Schools Secretary Treasurer.

She is an active member of AASBO, ASA, and ASBA and serves as a leader for both EFRG and EQUIP. In addition, Berry is a board member of both the Arizona School Risk Retention Trust and the Kairos Health Insurance Pool.

She also volunteers for her church, with her children’s basketball, baseball and softball teams, and in local PACs, as well as both Chandler Education Foundation and Queen Creek Education Foundation.

Lana and husband, Queen Creek Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Perry Berry, have four children thriving in Arizona’s public school system.

On September 24, our speaker will be Dr. Jessica Blanco. She will be speaking to the club about Advanced Directives. Dr. Blanco has been practicing family medicine for over 20 years as a solo practitioner. She attended the University of Arizona for undergraduate and medical school and serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor for the University of Arizona Medical School. She completed a residency at Phoenix Baptist Hospital and opened her own practice in 2003. Dr. Blanco volunteers with Chandler Care Center caring for patients and is active with Basha Site Council. She is married and is active with her children’s multiple sports activities. Dr. Blanco’s focus is treating patients’ physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
