Another very successful community event was held by the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse organization, in combination with local businesses and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
On April 24 the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse, along with MCSO and law enforcement agencies across the country, held a national prescription drug take back event, in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). We collected eight large containers full of expired or no-longer-necessary dangerous prescription drugs, including items containing fentanyl, from members of our community, and safely disposed of them through the DEA.
In addition, the Sun Lakes Posse organization, along with local businesses, co-sponsored a document shred event that saw close to 500 members of our community bring over 8,000 pounds of sensitive documents to be safely shredded in a secure shred truck. The event was an overwhelming success in the community.
Look for our next bigger and better community event for the upcoming DEA drug take back at the end of October of this year.
