Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse – January 2026

Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse/American Red Cross to Hold January 31 Blood Drive

Bill Shedd

The Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse and the American Red Cross will hold our next blood drive on Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse Office, 9531 E. Riggs Road. Please be sure to schedule your appointment by going to our website www.sunlakesposse.org and click on the link to pre-register.

Since 2020, the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse has held 28 blood drives and has collected 1,141 units of blood for the American Red Cross. The Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse and the American Red Cross held a successful blood drive at the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse Office on Dec. 6. This drive produced 45 units of valuable blood for the American Red Cross and our community. We wish to thank all those donors who supported this drive. As a vital part of our Sun Lakes and SunBird communities, the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse continues to hold these blood drives to supplement the dangerously low levels of blood in the current supply inventories.

This was our sixth blood drive in 2025. In 2025 the American Red Cross collected 234 units from these six blood drives. You make the difference!

The annual First Responders Open House will be held at the Sun Lakes Sheriff’s Posse office on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 9531 E. Riggs Road in Sun Lakes.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) specialty units, along with Arizona Fire & Medical will be there for a great outdoor family fun and informational event. Free hot dogs will be provided by the business partners of Arizona’s Heroes Home Team.

The MCSO Search and Rescue team will be there along with their helicopter. The Lakes Division will bring one of their patrol horses, and the K-9 Division will be on hand to demonstrate how they work alongside the bomb squad and the SWAT team on a call. The large MCSO command van will be on hand as well. You will be able to climb into it and see all the technology.

Arizona Fire & Medical will have fire trucks and ambulances there, along with public information members present to assist with individuals climbing in and out of the trucks plus showing off the special equipment they use every day to save lives.

Our Sun Lakes Posse Medical Equipment crew, along with all the members from both the Community Posse and the MCSO Sheriff’s Posse, will be on scene for the event to show our community the patrol units and the facility we use to serve the Sun Lakes community seven days a week.

We could not hold this event without help from the Sheriff’s office and the Arizona Heroes Home Team sponsors: Amy Nelson (Keller Williams Realty), Lisa Estes (VIP Mortgage), Romy Watts (Magnus Title), Vicki Paez (Edward Jones), and Craig Lloyd (American Family Insurance) for providing and cooking the free hot dogs at our event.

See you there!
