The Sun Lakes Wood Carvers artfully created a selection of delicious holiday foods for their annual celebration. To enhance the joyful spirit, Wally Jasien was busily carving St. Nicholas, as Steve Cullen shared his newly carved mice made for peeking over the mantel (or shelf) on the lookout for a prowling cat. The group carves a variety of subjects — animals, birds, antique shoes, wood spirits, Hopi-style Kachinas or anything one might enjoy or use, such as an artfully carved wood walking stick. There’s always a room of artists ready to help guide your first project or admire the work of other carvers, new or skilled, who wish to join us.
We meet every Thursday year round in Cottonwood Ceramics Room on the Plaza from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Contact Margaret Ryan at 480-802-6535 or Wally Jasien 480-895-8281 for further information. There is no fee – only ideas to share along with lively social discussions. Stop by and meet us!
