The Sun Lakes Sunday Dance Club is an exquisite choice for a special date night. Our March 18, 2018, event was a celebration of the best of the new season, with a ballroom graciously designed by our Decorating Divas featuring bursts of pastel colors in spring flowers, wide-brimmed pastel hats and flickering candles surrounded by soft blossoms. Music for “Stepping into Spring” was provided by Memories, a big band sound dance band.
Appropriately for a St. Patrick’s celebration weekend, several members sported touches of the green and called out “Sláinte” as couples danced the night away. Friends old and new chatted and enjoyed an elegant complimentary cheese board, which was accompanied by freshly-brewed coffee and scrumptious cookies during the band’s break.
As our season comes to an end on April 15, 2018, we’ll bring back an all-time favorite band, Route 66. Make your plans now – it promises to be a fabulously good time for all. Join us at the San Tan Ballroom at Cottonwood. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.; music and dancing are from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per guest couple. RSVP to [email protected] or call 480-699-7334. It helps us arrange comfortable seats and refreshments for everyone.
Dress is business casual or country club casual (ties optional for the gents). Please don’t wear shorts, t-shirts or flip flops. Ladies, long or short resort dresses or slacks always are appropriate.
Don’t even think about claiming you have two left feet. Prior to each dance, Mary Lou Kaye, our resident dance instructor, invites you to a special “Social Dance Class.” This one-hour lesson, beginning at 4:45 p.m., for a charge of $5 per person, helps a novice dancer enjoy a greater variety of dances. Couples and single dancers meet at the “Dance Studio” room at the Oakwood Complex, located in the first building when you turn into the Oakwood Complex off EJ Robson Blvd. After the class, Mary Lou Kaye hosts a reserved table at the dance for you to try out new steps with fellow students and your awesome instructor.
We have exciting plans for our next season, with the first dance on September 23, 2018, featuring the DK Orchestra. Save all these Sunday night dates! More information will be forthcoming before the new season begins.
2018: September 23, October 21, November 18, December 16
2019: January 20, February 17, March 24, April 14
Join us! You’ll get to know a terrific group of friends – some you already know and some you have yet to meet – who share a love of dancing. There are many ways to get involved. Our lovely Decorating Divas will welcome your help in making the ballroom into a magical setting for each dance. We have greeters for each dance – volunteer for an evening. It’s a great way to get to know everyone in the Sun Lakes Sunday Dance Club!
