Becky Henderson, Ed.D
As the principal of San Marcos Elementary School in the Chandler Unified School District, I would like to thank the Sun Lakes community for their continuous support. The students at San Marcos have been given so many opportunities because of the annual tax donations of so many of the residents in Sun Lakes. Examples of what we have bought with your donations are a state of the art sound system for our performances, a multimedia editing system for our live on-air morning announcements, a three day Science Camp trip to Prescott for our fifth graders, and countless other day field trips.
In the past year the students have also benefited from donations of time and talent of several Sun Lakes community organizations. The Dolly Dressers have donated dolls and books that the young students cherish (this may be the only doll some of our students will own). The Sun Lakes Anglers invited the second graders to learn to fish. The excitement on the children’s faces when they reported to me on how many fish the class caught was priceless! Members of the American Association of University Women volunteer their time weekly to read with some of the students. Recently, the Sun Lakes Community Children’s Theater came to our campus and performed Horton Hears a Who for our kindergarten and preschool students.
Thank you Sun Lakes community members for being such great partners with San Marcos Elementary School. I appreciate the generous support you have given us and I look forward to continuing to partner with you for many years to come.
