The Desert Artists Club Meets All Year Round

DAC members enjoying their time creating art together

Sue Sindelar

Welcome, April, and a very Happy Spring to all in Sun Lakes. The Desert Artists Club (DAC) meets each Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Ceramics Room in Cottonwood. Any resident within the three HOAs of Sun Lakes may join. We are located across the courtyard from the library.

The DAC has been together for decades, which is a testament to our love of art and our appreciation for the opportunity to create together right here in Sun Lakes. We are a casual club and have no dues or regular meetings. We meet each Tuesday afternoon in the Ceramics Room (A-8) from 3 to 6 p.m. Each artist brings their own supplies and works in their preferred medium, some of which are watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastels, and mixed media. We have occasional social times and “Share Your Art” displays. We support each other, inspiring creativity and friendships along the way. We have members who have been painting most of their lives and those who are just beginning. Some members have taught various forms of art, and many of us are self-taught, gaining knowledge from trying different mediums over the years. One thing we have in common is the love and appreciation of art and how it has helped shape how we see our beautiful world. Creating art helps in keeping our brains healthy and our emotions balanced. It is a good activity to indulge ourselves in, bringing joy to not only ourselves but to others.

If you are new to Sun Lakes or have been thinking of joining our club, we invite you to stop by on any Tuesday between 3:30 and 5 p.m. (best times) and see what we are about. Feel free to ask questions and see if this Art Club might be what you are looking for. You may also contact me, Sue Sindelar, at sue.sindelar@gmail.com or call and leave a voicemail at 602-717-8930.
