The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation’s recent recruitment drive has resulted in the addition of four new members of the board of directors, which now brings the board to a full capacity of 12 members. The Foundation is very pleased to announce the appointment of William Carpenter, Louis Bacca, Carolyn Holmes-Leneway, and Rene Seifert to the Foundation Board. President Richard Hawkes said, “I am excited for these four additions who will bring innovative ideas for fundraising and help us to continue building bridges to the Greater Sun Lakes Communities.” We are very proud to welcome William, Louis, Carolyn, and Rene to the Board of The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation.

The mission of The Foundation is to support local clubs and organizations that keep our senior population active and enjoying all that our communities have to offer. The Foundation specifically provides grants to clubs and organizations that provide activities that enhance the health, education, and culture of seniors in all of our great Sun Lakes communities. After the difficult times we all faced during 2020, The Foundation is now ready to receive grant proposals from any organization or club that serves the senior populations of our Greater Sun Lakes Area. Grant applications can be found by going to The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation website at www.slcommunityfoundation.com, and clicking on the tab “Grant Application.”

The Foundation thanks all the supporters who have again made our annual Christmas Gala Dinner/Dance a sell-out. This year’s Gala will feature our largest to-date selection of silent auctions and raffle items as a major fundraiser. The in-demand local band Outside the Line will perform for listening entertainment and dancing.

We are thankful for all who have supported The Foundation in the past, and we look forward to continuing to provide support to the great clubs and organizations in the Greater Sun Lakes Area. The Greater Sun Lakes Community Foundation is a 501(c)(3) federally approved organization, and donations to The Foundation may be tax deductible. Please visit our website www.slcommunityfoundation.com to see the list of the many clubs and organizations who have received grants from The Foundation. With your continued support, The Foundation will continue to help our senior population to be able to access stimulating and supportive activities year-round.
