Sun Lakes Fire District promotes two engineers
Brian Curry
What is an engineer as it pertains to the fire service? An engineer is the person who drives the fire engine and is responsible for the safe operation of the apparatus when responding to an alarm and the fire crew within. They must know the placement of every inch of the SLFD rigs and where every tool, medical equipment and hose lines are and how much hose and what diameter they are. They must be knowledgeable in hydrant operations, the science of supplying lines to other emergency apparatus at a major incident as well as being versed in hydraulics and friction loss.
