It’s June, and we celebrate dads! We want them to feel at home, to be able to kick back, relax, and have fun! What are men wanting for their home remodels to give them their spaces? Of course, it depends on personality, lifestyle, and family needs, but here are four desired features and priorities that many men tend to value:
1. Functional Spaces for Hobbies or Work
• Garage upgrades or workshops: Organized, well-lit spaces with storage and tool access.
• Home office: A private, tech-friendly workspace is often essential.
• Home gym: A dedicated fitness area with rubber flooring, mirrors, and equipment.
2. Entertainment: Focused Areas with dark tones
• Media room or man cave: A space for watching sports, movies, or gaming with surround sound, comfy seating, and a big-screen TV.
• Game room: Pool tables, poker setups, or even retro arcade machines.
3. High-Performance Kitchens (if they cook)
• Some men, especially those into grilling or cooking, want:
High-end appliances (e.g., smart ovens, gas ranges)
Outdoor kitchens or BBQ areas
Plenty of prep space and storage
4. Smart Home Tech
• Integration of smart lighting, thermostats, security systems, and audio systems.
• Voice controls and app-based home automation are often a big plus.
Like women, men want low-maintenance, durable materials with stone or matte finishes. They also value a bathroom with rainfall showers, heated floors, and high-end fixtures. They desire a closet organizational system that clearly defines their space. They appreciate custom cabinetry.
