Unity Church of Sun Lakes is a Spiritual community. We gather together to celebrate Peace, Love, Joy, and Healing. We follow the teachings of Jesus and other Spiritual Masters. We study and practice affirmative prayer and positive thinking. Rev. Jeanne McLaughlin is our minister, and she delivers a message at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning in the Arts & Crafts Room of Sun Lakes Phase 1 Country Club. All are welcome!
The Season for Non-Violence marks the 64 days between the assassinations of Gandhi on Jan. 30 and Martin Luther King, Jr., on April 4. On the Internet under the title “Season for Nonviolence” you will first find Mahatma Gandhi Canadian Foundation for World Peace, 64 Daily Practices that Make a Difference.
Continue on down to Weekly Theme. Every week for 10 weeks there are readings to help us see ways to practice nonviolence in our life. I hope we will all read and benefit from these inspirational readings. May we all strive to “Be the Peace we wish to see.”
Unity’s monthly booklet, Daily Word, is celebrating its 100th year since its beginning in 1924. It always says exactly what I need to hear at just the right time. There will be a Fillmore Festival at Unity Village August 22 to 25 to honor 100 Years of Daily Word. About a week ago, the word for the day was Divine Order, and a few days later, I had the urge to get out my little step stool and took everything I could reach off the shelf in the kitchen cupboard. I was actually having fun rearranging soup bowls, measuring cups, and glass bowls with lids. It was such a pleasure to look at the shelf and see order. Then I remembered what I had read in the Daily Word and felt a wave of gratitude. Reading Daily Word makes me feel like I have a friend who goes with me and encourages me in right thinking.
Activities: Church is at 10 a.m. on Sunday in the Arts & Crafts Room of Sun Lakes Phase 1 Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd. Look for the directional signs to the covered parking area and the meeting room.
