Among our many other blessings, Unity Church will be enjoying music performed by Vicki Deken at our Sunday morning celebration on November 30. In case you haven’t heard about her yet she is a flutist and has been on the music scene for many years and has an impressive background and performance history.
She grew up in suburban Chicago and studied flute with Emil Eck and Walfred Kujala of the Chicago Symphony. She attended Interlochen Arts Academy and has a degree in Music Performance from the University of Akron, Ohio. She has performed with the following orchestras and groups: Akron Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Rock Orchestra, Trillium Trio, Hutchinson Symphony, Arcadia Woodwinds Quintet and currently she is the flutist with the Arizona Wind Symphony at the Tempe Center for the Arts as well as the Recreative Arts Chamber Music group based in Paradise Valley. And when she is not playing her flute, Vicki loves to hike and has been a member of the Sun Lakes Hiking Club for the past 16 years. She and her husband reside in Sun Lakes.
