Reverend Jennifer Lambert
November is a month of remembering. As the season shifts, our calendars call us to Veterans Day—a time to honor the men and women who have served our country with courage and sacrifice. In our community, many neighbors wear the quiet witness of that service. Their stories, their steadfastness, and their ongoing contributions enrich us all.
In Scripture, remembrance is never just nostalgia; it’s an invitation to live differently today. “Remember … and the Lord your God redeemed you” (Deuteronomy 15:15). To remember rightly is to let gratitude shape our actions—toward compassion, justice, and the hard, hopeful work of peace.
This year, we will gather for a brief Veterans’ Circle of Honor ceremony on Nov. 9 at 10 a.m., located in front of Sun Lakes United Methodist Church. We’ll offer prayers of thanksgiving, honor the branches of service represented, and commit ourselves anew to be people of hope. Each name and face remind us: Freedom is tended by service, and community is strengthened by care. All Sun Lakes veterans and their families are invited to attend!
As we remember, may we give thanks for all who have served, pray for those who serve today, and become the kind of neighbors who never take our freedom for granted, extending care to all.
Sun Lakes United Methodist Church worships at 9 a.m. on Sundays at 9248 E. Riggs Road, Sun Lakes, Ariz. For more information, see our website at www.sunlakesumc.org.
