Help! Help is urgently needed for the State Fair October 7-30 at the State Fairgrounds by Arizona StandDown. In order for the committee that puts on the StandDown to pay for the StandDown, help is needed October 7-30 at the State Fair as ushers in the grand stand. This is a way that they pay for the use of the grounds for StandDown during the period of February 8-11. They will provide free parking and free entry during this time. Please sign up at www.arizonastanddown.org. Be prepared to arrive at least one hour before and to stay at least one hour after. Some time is needed before the performance and one hour is needed after the performance. Some time is needed as early as noon. Check in at Employee Information Center.
Make a contribution today to the fund for veterans and receive a tax deduction and a tax credit for this year’s taxes. Make the check out to Arizona StandDown and write it off your taxes for 2016 at the end of the year.

Georgenne Bickle, a veteran of the Air National Guard, U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy, is the new Arizona state director of Military Women Across the Nation.
MWAN is a non-profit organization whose mission is to keep military women past and present informed of benefits associated with their military service; keep female veterans connected while preserving their common history; provide opportunities for women in tomorrow’s armed forces through networking, socializing, and serving with and for other female veterans.
The Phoenix area has two active units, Salt River Military Women and Central Phoenix and Sonoran Desert Women in the East Valley.
The sixth annual event Honoring Arizona’s Vietnam era veterans is on October 29 at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort, 7200 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale. Social hour is at 5:30 p.m. and posting of colors by a Vietnamese Color Guard is at 6:30 p.m. The prepaid cost of dinners is $50 each. Tables of rounds of 10. Attire is civilian semi-formal or military class A. The speaker, Professor Robert F. Turner, holds both professional and academic doctorates from the University of Virginia School of Law, where in 1981 he co-founded the Center for National Security Law. Dr. Turner served two tours in Vietnam, is the author of more than 15 books and has published for several major American newspapers.
