Volunteering!

Shelby Lloyd Burnett

It is amazing to share little bits of valuable time with a patient, a caregiver and a family as a terminal illness progresses and life ending measures become the new normal. Sometimes that can be singing songs, playing music, listening to music, assisting with notes for a life review, writing letters, assembling photo albums, watching old movies, going on walks, enjoying lovely mornings in these cooler temperatures, and just the art of listening; these simple acts all communicate companionship and the comfort of togetherness, in lieu of the loneliness and isolation often experienced in a patients final journey.

Volunteers are needed – you can be that person making a difference!

Please call Grace Hospice at 480-775-2599. Our office is in Tempe; our patients, your patients, are valley wide and they are assigned on a geographical basis. Traffic isn’t where you need to be; creating new and treasured relationships are our goals. Training and background checks are required; drug screening and TB testing are provided at no charge.
