Volunteerism Is Honored by the Crystal Awards

Do you know a dedicated volunteer—someone who devotes a great deal of time and energy to making Sun Lakes a better place in which to live?

Consider nominating that person for a Crystal Award. Nomination forms will be available Oct. 17 at each of the three HOA reception desks, and are online at each HOA’s member website. Nominations open Nov. 1. Anyone may nominate a member who lives in Sun Lakes Country Club, Cottonwood Palo Verde, and IronOaks.

The Crystal Award program, which started in 2010, recognizes those who make our community a better place to live. To date, 91 outstanding volunteers have been honored. Each year, a committee of previous awardees chooses new honorees from each of the three Sun Lakes communities.

The nominees include people who have served their HOAs on the board or committees; people who have stepped up in service organizations like Neighbors Who Care, Rotary, and Lions Club; people who have volunteered to educate and entertain us through organizations like New Adventures in Learning or the Sun Lakes Community Theater; and people who are leaders of organized community activities like golf leagues, tennis tournaments, card and game groups, travel and hiking outings, and various other clubs.

So, take a look around your community and remember someone who goes above and beyond to serve others, and then nominate that person by Dec. 2.
