By the time you read this article, you will know who the candidates are for the General Election on Nov. 8.

The mission of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club is to help inform voters on crucial issues and candidates when they vote in November. To that end, the club will have meetings in September and October (second Monday of the month at 7 p.m.) to provide residents an opportunity to meet Democratic candidates running for office. The club will also be hosting a Candidate Forum on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 3 to 5 p.m., in the Arizona Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club for our Democratic candidates, so they can meet with voters.

In between these events, Democrats will be working hard to reach voters to inform them about Democratic candidates, how they stand on issues, and how they will work to solve them if elected to office.

Elections are for voters. It is the time when we can “speak” at the ballot box about what is important to us, what we want from leadership, and the problems we want to see solved. We are ready and invite you to participate in our wonderful election process.

Speakers for September:

Ben Graff and Alexandra Arboleda, Candidates for the Central Arizona Water Conservation District Board

Both Mr. Graff and Ms. Arboleda currently serve on the CAWCD board. Maricopa County has 10 seats on this board with 5 seats to elect this November. CAWCD establishes policy and sets rates and taxes for the Central Arizona Project.

Javier Ramos, Candidate for U.S. House, CD 5

Mr. Ramos is the Democratic U.S. House, CD 5, candidate. Currently, the seat is held by Andy Biggs. Mr. Ramos is an Arizona native and an ASU Law School graduate. He has over 20 years of experience in tribal law, working with Washington, D.C., to protect voting rights, water issues, and education on tribal lands.

Jennifer Pawlik, LD 17 AZ House Representative

Rep. Pawlik will review many of the issues from the last legislative session and the state budget. As an educator, she has great insight for the educational needs of our district and the state. She is running for re-election to the AZ House from LD13.

The Democratic Primary Winner for AZ Senate, LD13

We will have the winner of the Democratic Primary Election, AZ Senate, LD13, to discuss the next steps in their campaign.
