For the Aug. 14 meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club, we will be hearing about water issues from both a local and regional perspective. This is a chance to meet the representatives from Pima Utility, as well as the Central Arizona Water Conservation District (CAWCD), who work behind the scenes to guarantee our access to this precious commodity.

From Pima Utility, our Sun Lakes water company, we will hear from Martin Roush who will discuss the impact of drought and our community’s future water supply.

From Central Arizona Water Conservation District, we will hear from Benjamin Graff who is serving his second term on the board of CAWCD. Mr. Graff will discuss the current impact of decisions being made for the water supply that Arizona receives from the Colorado River and shares with seven other western states.

Rounding out the evening, our LD 13 Arizona House Representative Jennifer Pawlik will update us on activities in the Legislature and take questions from the meeting attendees, offering her valuable insight.

We also invite you to attend our First Friday Coffee Social, held on the first Friday of each month at Kneaders at Alma School and Queen Creek Roads from 10 to 11 a.m. Members can also attend Thirsty Thursday with LD 13, held the third Thursday of each month. Check ld13dems.org/calendar each month for more information.

SLDC is made up of like-minded individuals who are part of over 2,500 registered Democrats throughout the Sun Lakes area promoting an Arizona that works for everyone. We invite you to join us at 6:30 p.m. for a Social Hour, with the meeting starting at 7 p.m., on Monday, Aug. 14, in the Navajo Room at the Sun Lakes Country Club at 25061 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N., Sun Lakes.
