Fifty members of the Weeders Garden Club took a bus trip to the Lawrence Dunham vineyards Wine Gallery in Scottsdale on January 26. Our tour package included five tastes of the Dunham wines and we were treated to a very delicious assortment of snacks and special cookies all made by our President, Debbie Dunham. We were greeted by the Vineyards Wine Gallery’s owner/vintner, Curt Dunham. Curt was our featured speaker for our program on November 12, 2015, “Winemaking from Grape to Glass.” Curt aspires to create wines that will pair well with any type of food and his winery is located in southeast Arizona. Yes, you guessed it; Debbie (our President) and Curt Dunham are siblings and very creative siblings at that! The Wine Gallery has a gift shop that carries many wine accessories/gifts and of course, wine is available by the bottle or the case. There was adequate seating both inside the gallery and outside with front and back patios. Everyone enjoyed the warm evening and terrific wine, snacks and chat. This was an opportunity for the spouses or partners of our members to also enjoy this fun event.

The Weeders Garden Club meets the second Thursday of each month, September through May, in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club in Sun Lakes. Treats and coffee are served beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the business meeting is from 10:00 a.m.-noon. There is an interesting speaker and a horticulture presentation each meeting as well as a club money-making raffle, too!

Membership is open to everyone. Although field trips are reserved for members, anyone interested in attending a meeting is welcome.
