Weeders Garden Club, based in Sun Lakes, celebrated its 60th birthday with a Garden Tea Party theme at Roberta Sisk Park, Palo Verde Country Club on May 14 and everyone had such a grand time sharing food and beverage and chat! Almost everyone got into the swing of the theme and put on a beautifully embellished garden hat!

Beth Kirkpatrick gave a tribute and recognition to Ann Wesolowski, a Weeders member and Past President; Ann was also very active in Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs.

Installation of our new Board of Officers for 2015-2017 (pictured) was completed by Janie Montgomery, AFGC Eastern Director and Tricia Schaeffer, AFGC Gifts and Grants Chairman. Recognition was given by Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs for club membership growth and first place for yearbooks with members of 45-69 members. Pat Bunkley received a Pacific Life Membership pin and several other members received Arizona Life Membership pins. These members are Lollie Sharpe, Vivienne Torgeson, Cauleen Autery, Sue Berger, Pat Murrish and Mary Oester. One of our new transfer members, Judy Tolbert, has been elected President of Arizona Federation of Garden Clubs and also received a National Garden Club Life Membership pin.

The Weeders Garden Club meets the second Thursday of each month, September through May, in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club in Sun Lakes. Treats and coffee are served beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the business meeting is from 10:00 a.m.-noon. There is an interesting speaker and a horticulture presentation each meeting as well as a club money-making raffle, too! Come join us on September 10!

Membership is open to everyone. Although field trips are reserved for members, anyone interested in attending a meeting is welcome.
