Weeders Garden Club news

Cheryl Bunch

Even with frost cloths adorning our precious plants and the crisp air keeping us indoors the Weeders’ club got inspiration at the last meeting through a seminar on container gardening with Michelle Anderson. She has been featured in Phoenix Living magazine and owns her own container planting business, as well as being a Master Gardner. Creativity and ideas for spring were blooming!

In the next few weeks there will be two fun adventures for members; a trip to Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale with lunch at Wild Horse Grille, followed up by the fascinating Wuertz Farm Gourd Festival in Casa Grande. I can’t wait for this one as everyone who has gone in the past assures me I will be amazed at how many ways a gourd can be used and manipulated!

If you enjoy gardening, desire to learn more about it, or just like the company of fun people you should visit a Weeders’ meeting. They are held the second Thursday of each month in the Navajo Room at Sun Lakes Country Club. Refreshments begin at 9:30 a.m. and the meeting is at 10:00 a.m. For more information feel free to contact Pattie Langston at 734-368-3032.

On February 12 we will be enriched by Tom Gatz as he shares his vast knowledge of creating Bonsai trees out of desert adapted plants. He has been invited back by popular demand!
