Work Out to Help Out

Nancy Patterson

Wow! The classes have started with a bang! At this rate, Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank should be receiving about $200 cash donation at the end of every month—maybe more. (I am writing this article the second week in March for the publication deadline, so it is kind of a guess.)

The class works your full body; most people seem to return, we laugh, blah, blah—but what strikes me the most is the “good nature” of the Sun Lakes community. Every person in the class helps each other, listens, and seems comfortable. As the instructor, I make mistakes—calling elbows knees, tipping over while balancing, speaking in short bursts of muffled grunts while catching my breath, but I look out at the class and see content faces striving to improve their balance, strength, and overall health. We are so lucky to live here!

Work Out to Help Out exercise class is offered Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, at 4:30 p.m., at Cottonwood Palo Verde Fitness Center ($3 drop-in and $2 a class if you buy the card). HALF of this money is donated to Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Registration and information about registering is available by stopping by the Fitness Center or calling 480-895-1776.
