The 2026 midterm election will be over, but Sun Lakes Democrats won’t be putting their ballots away just yet.

At the Nov. 9 meeting of the Sun Lakes Democratic Club, members will celebrate the election results with successful Democratic candidates—and then conduct an election of their own.

Members will vote for the officers and board members who will lead the club during the 2027-28 term, helping shape its programs, activities and priorities as Democrats begin preparing for the 2028 Presidential Election.

The Nov. 9 meeting begins with a social gathering at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7 p.m. at Sun Lakes Country Club, Navajo Room, 25601 E. Sun Lakes Blvd. N., Sun Lakes.

The election will include the following positions:

* President

* Vice-President

* Secretary

* Treasurer

* 15 Board Members

“Voting is at the heart of what Democrats do,” Outgoing President Cathy Hendricks said. “After encouraging our members and the community to participate in the Nov. 3 midterm election, we’re asking our members to exercise that same democratic right by helping choose the people who will lead our club for the next two years.”

Serving as an officer or board member provides an opportunity to have a direct voice in determining the club’s direction, programs and activities—and to help build the organization leading into the 2028 Presidential Election.

Members who are interested in serving or who would like to learn more about the leadership opportunities are encouraged to contact Carol Maas by phone or text at 480–861-3754.

The Sun Lakes Democratic Club represents more than 2,500 registered Democrats in the Sun Lakes community and advocates for policies that promote a thriving, inclusive Arizona. The club welcomes residents interested in learning more about issues affecting Arizona and meeting candidates seeking public office.

The November meeting also will include the club’s continuing support of Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank. Members may bring donations to the meeting or make a tax-deductible donation online. A receipt is available for the dollar-for-dollar tax-deductible contribution.
