Young Voices from the “Old Country”

Ellie Watland

The Scandinavian Club of the S.E. Valley invites you to attend its February 18 gathering at the Sun Lakes Clubhouse. The evening’s program will be presented by area A.F.S. (American Field Service) students from Scandinavia.

For over 70 years, A.F.S. has provided intercultural educational experiences, often to students who spend a school year living with a family and attending school in another country. This year’s students living in the Chandler area will share their impressions of their new homes, schools, shopping, culture and more. It will be an interesting evening hearing them tell about their experiences and how alike or different their home countries are from the U.S.

Social hour begins at 5:00 p.m. with appetizers and an open bar. A delicious dinner is served at 6:00 p.m., followed at 7:00 p.m. by the program. Dinners are $15.

Reservations are necessary and must be made by February 12. Contact Carol Jacobsen at [email protected] or call 480-279-6690 to make a reservation. There will be a drawing for two free tickets for another meeting. Maybe you’ll be one of the lucky winners!

Scandinavian or not, you are welcome to attend, and we look forward to seeing you!
