A Second Try for Restless Minds

Bill Gates

Because of events on Jan. 6, the Restless Minds group scrapped its previously announced topic so it could discuss the terrorist assault on the U.S. Capitol.

With hope that calm exists, they’ll try again in February to discuss personal experiences with jobs. The Zoom meeting will begin at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 9. Those already on the group’s email list will automatically receive sign-in instructions. Others who want to participate should send an email to [email protected], by Feb. 7 for the sign-in details.

All people with open, inquisitive minds are invited to attend. There are no dues or other requirements. Just log in and participate.

We all remember our first jobs—sometimes with horror, sometimes with deep appreciation.

In a 2015 book First Jobs, author Merritt Watts observed, “A first job may not have the romance of the first kiss or the excitement of a first car, but more than anything else, it offers a taste of true independence and a preview of what the world has in store for us.”

Beginning with remembering early jobs, we’ll look at work and careers from the rearview mirror.
