Aero Club flies to Payson for breakfast

One of the most popular events for Sun Lakes Aero Club (SLAC) members are fly-ins to restaurants throughout Arizona for a breakfasts or lunch. On March 24, the destination was Payson, where 11 members and guests showed up for breakfast at the Crossroads Restaurant. Flying in from Chandler Municipal Airport were Ken Carpenter in his Grumman AA-1B and Gary Vacin in his Grumman AA1 Yankee with passenger J. R. Scheidereiter.

Steve Perkins and Richard Simmons flew Stellar Airport-based Cessnas with passengers John Woods, Gary West and Hank Beliema. Paul Beeks flew his Bellanca Cruismaster based at the Coolidge Airport with passengers Bob DeLong and Roger Bartels. A trip to the San Carlos Apache Airport east of Globe for breakfast at the Apache Gold Casino on April 21 closed out the club’s spring fly-in schedule. The club will host more fly-ins and field trips beginning in November 2016.
