Anglers spring fishing scheduled

We have scheduled three derbies with local schools for early March. They are Monday, March 6; Wednesday, March 8; and Friday, March 10. We need all the help we can get to stage a fun event for the youngsters. They arrive around 9:00 a.m. They sign in, get name tags and take a group picture. We spread out around the lake and fish until about 11:30 a.m. The club furnishes the bait and tackle and help the fisher persons with casting and taking the fish of the hook. You will find the equipment in good shape and user friendly. The catch is mostly catfish with and occasional bass. The bait is hotdogs. The kids have a lot of fun, and it is rewarding to be a part of the experience. So if you like to fish and want to do your good deed for the day, come join us. We fish on Lake 6 SLCC. Lake 6 is located behind the short golf course that is behind the SLCC main building.

The Grandparents Derby is an outing the club sponsors each year. The Grandparents Derby is always the Saturday before Easter. This year, it is April 15. It is open to all kids in Greater Sun Lakes. Bring your grandchild and your HOA card, sign in and pick up your equipment and bait. There will be people on hand to help. You may bring your own equipment if you wish.

To fund the fishing trips and the equipment, the Anglers sponsor and sell items at the flea market held on the third Saturday of the month (March 18) at the SLCC parking lot. You will find great bargains. The hours are 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Donations to the Anglers are sold, and the proceeds go to support the fishing outings we sponsor. We need small items to sell. For donations, call Don Herring at 480-802-9320 for drop-off or pick up. For a booth of your own at the flea market, contact the SLCC office at the clubhouse. A $5.00 fee gets you a spot.

We would like/need you to join the club. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month in the Mirror Room at SLCC at 7:00 p.m. The next two meetings will be on March 7 and April 4. See you there; ladies welcome.
