Author Jane Cleland coming to Robson Library

Antiques Mystery series author Jane K. Cleland will be giving a presentation at Lecky Center, Ed Robson Maricopa County Library, 9333 Riggs Rd., Sun Lakes on Saturday, December 13 from 11:00 a.m.-noon. Antique enthusiasts find her books delightful because of frequent references to the collecting world, and the popular Josie Prescott mystery series are often reviewed as a virtual Antiques Roadshow for fans of fictional mystery. Blood Rubies is her latest release in the Josie Prescott series and will be available for purchase and author signing. Her talk is titled “Lessons Learned: Four Things I Wish I’d Known at the Start of My Mystery Writing Career”. Robson Library Friends of the Library are sponsoring Ms. Cleland’s presentation. Light refreshments will be provided.

Prior to her 11:00 a.m. presentation, from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Ms. Cleland is offering a free writer’s workshop. During the workshop which is titled “The Art of Distraction: Using Red Herrings to Create Suspense” Jane will discuss writing techniques using red herrings (a false clue) that distract the reader from what is really going on. If done well, red herrings add complexity to plots and intrigue to stories. If interested in attending the writer’s workshop please register by contacting Robson FOL member Linda Goth at 480-353-1394. No registration is required for the 11:00 a.m. presentation.
