Sun Lakes resident Bill Bade recently completed his 10th year as conductor of the Risen Savior Church Choir. Bade is well known throughout Sun Lakes music circles as a highly-accomplished musician. In addition to directing choirs for over 51 years, he is an accomplished organist and pianist.

The Risen Savior Choir, which features 40 to 50 singers during the September through April season, sings a wide-range of styles. “Throughout this season we expect to feature several of our singers as soloists. In addition, we are planning to present arrangements that are accompanied by string, woodwind and brass soloists or ensembles,” Bade commented.

He further added, “One of the things we would like to accomplish this season is to add about 10 more voices to the choir to enable us to further expand our musical offerings to include arrangements that are better suited to even more voices. If you like to sing and would like to join us, we would welcome you with open arms. This is a great time to start since we are about to begin rehearsing on our selections of music for the Christmas season.”

Prospective singers might be interested to know that the vast majority of our choir members are residents of Sun Lakes. Also, we do not require that incoming singers audition to sing. Further, it is not necessary to be a member of a church as long as you enjoy praising God in song. The choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:10 p.m. in the choir loft at Risen Savior. We sing at the first worship service on Sundays which enables us to be home by 9:00 a.m.
