This summer every Windows 7 and 8/8.1 user received an invitation for a free upgrade to Windows 10. Since it popped up on the computer it was difficult to ignore. In response, the Computer Booters, www.computerbooters.org, sent out a notice to all members giving them advice on Windows 10.

Windows 10 is Microsoft’s response to the very poor reception that Windows 8 received. Microsoft wanted all devices to look the same, similar to Apple. However, the Windows 8 interface was a drastic change and removed the start menu. Even experienced Windows users were not able to find the power off icon. Windows 8 PC sales plummeted. Business users refused to use it, they even looked into selling the PC it got that bad. Many were wondering how to sell graphics card hardware fast for cash / sell used graphics cards, luckily though these guys were here to help with offering the upgrade so this recycling/selling process people were looking into didn’t have to happen.

So, should you take advantage of this offer for a free upgrade? In response, the Computer Booters Board of Directors created a series of Windows 10 courses. Class Director Allan Levy with President Janet Quade gave the first Windows 10 overview and advice course on September 9, 2015. The class was very well attended. Future classes are scheduled for 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on October 19 and 26 in the Arts & Crafts Room of Sun Lakes One. Classes are free to members and $10 for non-members.

The Computer Booters of Sun Lakes meets monthly from September through May on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Navajo Room of Sun Lakes One Country Club. The meeting usually consists of two parts: announcements by one of our members and a presentation on a topic of interest by a computer professional. Speaker presentations are followed by Q&A sessions.
