Regent Barbara Hugus has announced that Gila Butte Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will hold a Heritage Tea in April, featuring vintage show-and-tell. It is planned as a fun send-off to summer. The event will be held at Oakwood Country Club and is open to women of the community. Attendees are invited to wear or bring vintage and antique fashion items. For information call 480-283-1846.

DAR is a national volunteer women’s service organization open to every woman over 18 who can prove bloodline lineage to a patriot of the American Revolution. Gila Butte Chapter meets in Sun Lakes between September and April. The chapter was founded in 2002 by 22 pioneers and today Gila Butte numbers more than 100 members from around the Valley and the nation.

Gila Butte is one of 3,000 worldwide chapters with 177,000 members. There are 41 Arizona DAR chapters. History, education and patriotism are DAR’s objectives, and the DAR motto is “God, Home and Country.” Eligible women interested in membership are invited to call 602-430-6048 or go to the Gila Butte chapter website at gilabutte.arizonadar.org.
