The DAC began the 2020 new year with a room full of diverse and fun artists. It was great seeing some of our winter members again in January. The DAC creativity was alive and well.
For those of you who are new to Sun Lakes (or not) and would like to join our group, we meet each Tuesday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in Cottonwood in the Ceramics Room (8-A). It is across the courtyard from the Cottonwood Library and near the golf Pro Shop. We are a group of artists who enjoy getting together with fellow artists, in a non-competitive and supportive environment, where we can create and continue to grow in our chosen media. Our club also has painting instruction books and other materials that members can borrow to begin or advance their art. We meet year-round and have occasional social gatherings which build on the friendships we have in our club.
February is a wonderful time to be painting Valentine cards or bookmarks for your loved ones or friends. Perhaps you have a neighbor who lives alone; giving a Valentine “original and from the heart gift” would be a real lift to their spirit. Come and create a simple piece of Valentine art, share it, and your heart, too, will feel the love. Art and artists make the world a happier and brighter place.
“Art at the Lakes” is next month on March 7. Some of our members will be participating. Bring your friends and neighbors, enjoy and perhaps buy a piece of art that speaks to you, and remember it is a fundraiser for our Sun Lakes Fire Department which, in turn, supports all of us. Plan on having lunch that the firefighters prepare. Great hot dogs and hamburgers are grilled right there. Look for the Art at the Lakes article in the Splash.
