Desert Threads Quilters prepare for exciting fall

In August we had lots of members taking time out and going northward to escape our hot summer. We did not have an official meeting, but our quilting members wanted to get together, so they planned a shop-hop to visit several of the quilt stores in the Valley. One group went to northern stores and another group went to eastern locations to visit. They will tell us about their travels when we meet in September.

Our September meeting will present Pam Rackley, owner of Sweet Peaz, a new quilt store in our area.

We have a terrific line-up for the fall when our members return to our sunny Sun Lakes location. We will showcase the quilts Desert Threads has completed since April when we started our project. These quilts are for veterans who are transitioning from temporary to permanent housing at the Phoenix location. After our display, these quilts will be presented to men and women veterans in celebration of their growth, hard work, and dedication. Our project continues to make twin-size quilts, and kits are available.

In November the program will be Heidi Pridemore. And December will be our Christmas party with cookies and a Christmas block exchange. Plan now to join us!

In addition, we have numerous classes planned for the fall, and all members will have an opportunity to learn new techniques and make new friends joining the group.
