If you suffer with an achy back, sore knees, and tight shoulders and hamstrings, you might consider taking a yoga class. A well-rounded Hatha Yoga class helps us move our joints safely and strengthen our muscles and bones. Many of the poses challenge our balance and help prevent falls and fractures that so many seniors deal with on a daily basis.
In most yoga classes, you do a mix of static and dynamic poses. The static is when you hold a pose to build strength, and dynamic is moving in and out of poses, which links mindful breathing with movement to build grace and stamina.
Yin Yang Yoga Flow is good for beginners and intermediate students who want to be challenged and are open to try something new. Yin Yang Yoga Flow classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m.
If you want no flow yoga, then come to Yoga for Strong Bones and Balance every Saturday at 9 a.m.
Both Yin Yang Yoga Flow and Yoga for Strong Bones and Balance are safe for seniors who want to stay healthy and learn new ways to move, breathe, and relax. You will need a mat, and the cost is $5 per class. For more information, call or text Margie Parrish at 602-930-8102.
