I hope this finds all members staying cool so far this summer. Whether traveling north to the higher altitude of Flagstaff or attending our fabulous workshop at the Grand Canyon, you are always looking for ways to learn more about taking pictures. So, what better way than joining our Sun Lakes Camera Club to learn more. Our club will once again sponsor the highly-acclaimed Fundamentals of Digital Photography class this coming season. Beginners and advanced shooters rave about the comprehensive classroom instruction and hands-on field shoots included in this course. As in past years, this class is open to all members of our community. Look for additional information here in the Splash over the coming months, or contact Dan Dragoon at [email protected] to learn more about what the class offers, dates and times.

Member/Club News: This month’s meeting is Thursday, August 1, 2019. Our very own member Herman Dierks will be speaking on photographing still life. This very popular form of photography can be very deceptive to shoot. Still life can be arranged or spontaneous. Herman’s talk will be accompanied by a slide show addressing composition, lighting, arranging and additional tips. This subject would be very auspicious for those just getting started in photography, and our advanced shooters would garner creative ways of taking still life images. Our meeting will be held in Cottonwood in the Ceramics Room. Be alert to emails or go to sunlakescameraclub.com for more details on time and information on the topic. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Our next meeting will be held Thursday, September 5, 2019. This will be our last meeting of the summer before our 2019-2020 club season begins in October.

The Sun Lakes Camera Club (SLCC) meets the first and third Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Navajo Room of the Sun Lakes Country Club from October through April. During the summer, the club meets the first Thursday of each month in the Ceramics Room of the Cottonwood Country Club. For more information about the SLCC and its activities, call SLCC President Jan Ballard at 602-621-3344, Vice President Raul Lopez at 510-785-3079 or Past President Burt Williams at 602-354-0266 and visit our website at sunlakescameraclub.com.
