New Adventures in Learning – what is it all about? Am I eligible to join? What is the procedure to join? If you do not know about New Adventures, please take a few minutes to read this article. If you are currently a member, pay special attention to the information under fall registration.

New Adventures in Learning is all about providing continuing education for active adults in Sun Lakes, Solera, SunBird and the surrounding areas. If you are looking for a way to satisfy your love of learning, make new friends, and increase your knowledge, New Adventures is for you. The classes are offered at the Chandler-Gilbert Community college located at the corner of Riggs Road and Alma School. What a perfect location! There is ample, free parking and the facility is air-conditioned. Topics for classes include history, science, finance, the arts and more. Here are a few examples: Modern Korea and the hidden Treasures of Korean Art, The Anatomy of Treachery, America’s first “9-11,” Making Sense of Medicare, The Lincoln of Literature, Dine – The term the Navajo use for their people, Sights to See in Southern and Western Arizona, to name a few. There is something for everyone!

If you are an adult living in the area, you are eligible for New Adventures. Over 500 of your neighbors have joined New Adventures, an all-volunteer organization supported by its members. Annual dues are $50 which allow members to register for as many classes as they wish. There is an additional $15 college registration fee for each semester a member is actively enrolled in classes.

If you are interested in registering for classes the following describes the procedure for joining.

Fall Registration:

1. Fall registration packets, which include the curriculum guide, will be mailed to members in late August.

2. Non-members may pick up a registration packet at the Sun Lakes Center starting the last week of August.

3. The curriculum guide will also be posted on our website at www.newadventtures.info.

4. Registration begins on Tuesday, September 6 and continues throughout the semester since new classes start ever week of the semester. This allows snowbirds to start classes whenever they arrive.
