Fun Lakers Club has been busy putting together many new events for our members. In addition to the monthly activities, our V.P. Don Morgan has been working on a variety of smaller events, including a February trip to Tubac, Arizona, for the Art Festival and a charity event for St. Mary’s Food Bank. On March 10, there will be a Wrigley Mansion Tour and luncheon. Chairperson Rose Matteson has helped to coordinate the Mexican Train Club, one of the most popular of all domino games. Teams meet on alternate Monday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Cottonwood Meeting Room Complex for games and appetizers. Please contact Don at [email protected] for further details regarding small events.
On March 25, Fun Lakers Club will be hosting one of its signature events; the annual Homecoming 1964 – Dance and Dessert Potluck. It will be an evening to relive those magical high school moments with some great ‘50s/‘60s music with DJ Jamal, dancing, trivia and the crowning of the FLC Homecoming King and Queen. Dressing ‘60s style is encouraged, but not required.
Registration for Homecoming will be sent out to all members. Further details will be posted on the FLC website, www.funlakers.org. The cost is $12.50 for members and $17.50 for nonmembers. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Poolside Cafe in Oakwood.
Please save the date for the FLC, members only, Sonoran Progressive Dinner on April 29. The format will be a bit different this year. We will begin the evening with members meeting at the Cottonwood parking lot to receive informational packets including Host Home designations and driving directions. The first stop will be for appetizers. After enjoying ceviche, guacamole and a seven-layer dip with Sangria and Margaritas, guests will move to their second location for dinner. The main course will feature a Sonoran dinner with two entrees, beef and chicken, with delicious sides. Following dinner, everyone will meet back at the Oakwood Poolside Cafe for dessert, music and dancing. It’s a great way to meet and make new friends, both in a small and large group setting. Details will be sent to all members later this month.
We are now taking nominations for the FLC 2017-2018 Board of Directors. If you are interested, please contact Bill Bachand, FLC president, at [email protected]. The election will take place in April.
Fun Lakers Club is all about friendship and having fun. If you haven’t joined or are not sure if it’s the right match for you, this might be the time – just for the fun of it! We hope to see you at any and all of our future club events. Please check out our website for further details related to FLC, www.funlakers.org.
