Are you new to Sun Lakes or just looking for more fun and friends? Look no farther as the Fun Lakers Club is busy making plans for new and exciting activities for all the residents of our beautiful community to enjoy.
The Fun Lakers Club Summer Mingle and Trivia Night was enjoyed by all who attended. We gathered in the Saguaro Room at Cottonwood Country Club for a buffet of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and a rousing game of trivia with a twist.
October and the fall season are coming to the Fun Lakers and we are kicking off the season with a casual cookout and hayride at Ponderosa Stables. A cowboy singer will serenade us as we enjoy our dinner around the campfire. The menu for the evening will be chuck wagon fare of hamburgers, hotdogs, beans and lemonade. Of course you are welcome to BYOB, the adult beverage of your choice. We will play traditional picnic games, enjoy our friendships and reacquaint ourselves with friends returning from all points north. A fun filled Western night is guaranteed for all. The cost for the evening will be $36.45 per person and adult guests are welcome to join us. The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. We will meet at the Ace Hardware on Riggs Road and caravan to Ponderosa Stables. Anyone who can take additional people in his/her car, please contact Toni McAninch, 9550 E. Sunridge Drive at 480-239-0851. Toni is also the contact person for any questions you may have. As always, a flyer and registration form will be emailed to our members but will also be available on our website www.funlakers.org.
Planning is under way for an evening of tapas (small plates) and a wine tasting in November. One of our nation’s premier wine sommeliers will be pairing five fine wines with five elegantly prepared tapas to create combinations that complement each other perfectly. This will be one of our premier events and is limited to 75 attendees so mark your calendar and save November 14.
In December we will celebrate the holidays with our annual dinner and dance. But, lest you think it is the same old thing, our Activities Committee has arranged for the J Powers Band, one of Arizona’s finest bands, to entertain us.
More exciting activities are in the planning for 2016. If you have time or would like to get involved, please let Frank Mills know and he’ll be happy to include you ([email protected]).
Our club is all about friendship and having fun. If you haven’t joined yet, please visit our website www.funlakers.org for more information and a membership form or contact Leo Klebenow at [email protected], 480-729-0808. Whether you’re single or a couple, the high season for fun lasts all year for the Fun Lakers so come and join us. We’d love to see your smile.
